Sometimes, we need to know our password, like when we want to download our social media data. You may have been logged in to Facebook or Instagram so long ago that you can’t remember your own password. We all know this feeling. It might be in a little notebook on your desk, but we’ll help you find your Facebook or Instagram password in your browser.
The general process is always the same. You can go directly into your social media account because your browser remembers the password. You can see the password you saved by getting to your password manager. There are very minor differences based on the browser type for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Chrome
- Select the kabob menu button
on the right side of the address bar. - Select Passwords and autofill.
- Choose Password Manager
- Choose the website and click on the show/hide symbol to reveal the password.
Firefox
- Select the hamburger menu
on the right side of the address bar. - Select Passwords from the drop-down menu.
- Choose the website and click the eye symbol to reveal the password.

Edge
For Microsoft Edge, there is a little extra step. You’ll need to go into the browser’s settings menu to get to the passwords.
- Click the Three Dot menu
on the right side of the address bar. - Go to Settings.
- In the settings window, scroll down to Microsoft Wallet and click on Passwords.
Safari
If you are using Mac’s password manager, you’ll need the overall password to that account.
- Open Safari.
- Choose Settings in the Safari menu and then click Passwords.
- Sign in with either your user account password or the Touch ID.
- Select the website and click Show Details.
Now that you have your password again, you can download your social media memories so that you control them.
